EXTRA INFO
Toccata is a musical piece that combines rhythmic elements of Cuban music from a contemporary classical perspective. The composer, who lives in Havana, Cuba, was inspired for the creation of this piece by the sound of ancient American cars from the 1940s and 1950s, which still circulate through the streets of Havana. This work is full of energy that is evidenced by the use of accents and "contratempos", which take on great importance, thus reflecting typical elements of Cuban music, as well as an inescapable sense of search, which leads us to a final climax full of explosion and virtuosity. This work has been awarded and performed inside and outside the country. According to the composer, Toccata constitutes one of his most important works.
